Shawn JacksonShawn Jackson

A native of both Vicksburg and Philadelphia, Mississippi, Shawn learned that he had a gift for writing when he wrote an essay on what “Peace” meant to him in his sixth grade class. Since then, Shawn has let his creativity and imagination grow unimpeded.

He has felt that God has guided him to the places that he is now. As Deputy Editor of J’Adore Magazine, he felt that his calling was not complete and as God continues to guide him in different directions, he was offered the chance to become part of ASL Inside ATL.

Being a Profoundly Deaf Adult with a Cochlear Implant, he was in a special position being between the hearing and Deaf worlds and able to communicate freely in both. Though the idea was only beginning for ASL Inside ATL, he fully believed in it and grasped onto it strongly.

Deanna SwopeDeAnna Swope

Greetings to ASL inside ATL fans, my name is DeAnna Swope. I was born and grew up in a small town named Eatonton. I became deaf at age 23 months old due to spinal meningitis and silence became my world every since. I moved to Atlanta when I was 13 for better education and opportunities. That’s when I was exposed to the cultural shock phenomena which was ASL, and my PSE slowly transformed to ASL. ASL has become my 2nd nature now. In 2004, I met and fell in love with Thomas Swope, Jr. We married in 2008 after experiencing the joys of our twin daughters in 2007. I’m blessed to be a part of this team and I strongly believe that we will succeed beyond our wildest dreams. Nothing is impossible without God. God bless you all.
